Teyana Taylor made history at the 2026 Golden Globes by not only earning the first award of the night but also accidentally becoming the first star to be censored during their acceptance speech. **

The singer-songwriter and actress, 35, had her audio temporarily cut while accepting the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture for her performance in *One Battle After Another*. **

The comment Taylor made that did not make the broadcast was: "Oh my God, this s--- is heavy." Taylor was referring to the golden statuette that she held in her arms as she read her speech.

Taylor began to cry as she took to the stage to accept the award. Her fellow nominees — Amy Madigan, Ariana Grande, Emily Blunt, Elle Fanning, and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas — could all be seen applauding for her along the way. **

“Oh my God, I almost didn’t even write a speech because I didn’t think I would get this,” she said, voice breaking with emotion. “Oh my babies! My babies are upstairs watching, y’all better be off those damn phones and watching me right now.” **

Taylor went on to thank God for "every lesson, every test, and every blessing," her family, and *One Battle After Another* director, writer, and co-producer Paul Thomas Anderson.**

"To Paul 'Let 'Em Cook' Thomas Anderson, thank you for your vision, your trust, and your brilliance. My gratitude is endless. I love you, we love you, and thank you so much for holding space for me and our entire cast."**

She also gave special shout-outs to her costars Leo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, Chase Infiniti, Regina Hall, and "every single person who has touched this project" along the way. **

"None of this is taken lightly, and none of this is taken for granted," she said, before getting censored as she continued, "Oh my God, this s--- is heavy."

She concluded, "And last, but most importantly, to my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight, our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space. Thank you so much, everybody. Thank you!"**

Taylor starred as Perfidia Beverly Hills in *One Battle After Another*, a member of the revolutionary group the French 75 alongside partner Pat Calhoun (DiCaprio). **
